We had perfect Indian Summer weather these past few days But alas, this may be the last chance for the fall colors to shine. I thought I would share some of the images we see here at Cozy Cove Cabins. The first one above is Hog Island reflecting

I sat on the porch this afternoon seeing this red maple and the glistening waters beyond and had to share it with you. We are in full color and soon, they will be all gone. Hope you have a wonderful October

As you can see, one of the red maples we have here is turning nicely. There is still green on the leaves but it won't be long before we have full color. Our birch trees, which we have many, are turning yellow and already falling. First leaf clean up

After the storms, the lake water rose. We kept the dock attached hoping it would go down again, which it did but alas, it came back up. SO today, Steve took the dock out.

The colors are almost gone, the leaves are falling, the skies are gray (sounds like a song I know ) but there is still so much beauty around here. When the sun did peak out, it was gorgeous.

But alas, fall must

Although it was a bit overcast this morning, the sun was still shining on Hog Island and the mountains beyond. The lake was still and already, some incredible fall colors reflecting off the lake.

For those of you who enjoy the ride up US Route 201 to see the incredible fall foliage unfold before your eyes, fair warning, you better hurry! The colors are changing fast. I do believe peak foliage is upon us.

Yes, that is a nice layer of fog over the lake. We cannot even see beyond the dock. It is about 40 degrees this morning but the sun is trying to come up so the fog is lifting.

Our red maples have begun to turn here at Cozy Cove and yet, I think there is definitely more evidence of autumn on Johnson Mountain as well as in Dennistown. (even though both are only about 6 miles from town, both are at a bit higher elevation) Leaf peepers

All the leaves were gone on Tuesday except for this tree. SO we did our final clean up, so we thought.



The following day, the rest of leaves on this tree fell. Oh well, they can wait until next year.

As mentioned in the previous entry, the hard frost this morning I think did it for the foliage this year. In this picture, you can how baron the trees are on the other side of the lake plus the snow on the mountain in the distance.

We have had rain the past week and today the sun finally came out. It is a bit breezy but at least we are seeing the sun again

In a matter of days, the leaves change around here from nice to incredible to gone. So even though it is a little overcast today, I had to capture some of this color. Wish you could see this in person!

Yesterday was even more incredible reflections of color on the lake. I did some panoramic shots and below are 3 that I put together. I wish I both had more time and patience to combine them better but I think you get the jest.

Every fall, I see the colors change but there are none better then seeing them as they reflect on a calm quiet lake. I took this shot this morning.

I went to Augusta yesterday to help out at the MSA show and on the way home, I realized, we are at peak foliage up here, if not just past it. What an incredible drive up 201 it was.

This week the leaves have really started to turn. When I was young, I was always told that they change color after the first frost. I do not believe we had a hard frost yet, although in the mountains they may have. But also, I read

The yellow and orange colors are still strong and even yesterday, when the lake was crystal calm, the color reflections off the lake were still intense. But

Peak foliage here in the region is usually the 1st week in October, but it may be sooner this year!

I cannot believe that some leaves are beginning to change already, especially the red maples.
