Remember when we did not have cell service

May 23, 2010 | 1 comments

Remember when you could only get cell service at Attean lookout? When the running joke around Cozy Cove was that if you went to the end of the dock, raised one arm and one leg, you might get cell service? (watch the video link below)

http://cozycovecabins.com/movies/?url=Cell-Service-Class.flv&p=1

I miss those days as I see cell phones attached to people's ears around town and around camp or when guests call us from their cabin instead coming over and talking to us in person or when a guests talks on his cell phone more then he talks to his S.O. here while on vacation. What's up with that :

Don't get me wrong. It really is good that there is the option to use a cell phone when needed but I think using it or a computer while on holiday in Jackman kinda defeats the purpose of getting away from it all doesn't it :

Hello Everyone at Cozy Cove Cabins...
Merry Christmas! God bless you with health, wealth and happiness in the New Year and always.

I stayed at CCC with my mother and her little pug, China, for one night in June 2008 on our way to the Birches Resort for her 80th birthday.

I recall that you had mentioned the facelift that you were beginning to undertake at that time.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Murphy. Although we were there for only one night, I will never forget his gentle nature.

When I got to the part of your blog about cell phones....I HAD TO RESPOND!!!!!!!! I cannot begin to tell you how much I agree with you re: cell phone and computer use on vacations. It is unfortunate that some vacationers do not UNPLUG and give themselves time to hear to the quiet. That is the part of the north woods that I find so healing to my frazzled nerves. I don't think I can return to CCC in 2011 but maybe in 2012. I have had it in my mind to return ever since that one overnight stay. The stark beauty of Big Wood Lake and the unforgettable warm welcoming aura about the whole place have stuck in my mind. J. R. Long Island

Thank you Jeannie. What a lovely note. You have a wonderful Christmas yourself! Tami Steve and Maggie
